What is Urban Night Series?

A 2 hour event, we give you a simple map, you run or walk its your choice, you have up to a maximum 2 hours to visit as many of the 30 checkpoints as possible solo or in teams of 2. You can enter male, female of mixed teams.

What are checkpoints?

There are 30 checkpoints (CP's) on the event, these are geofenced locations no physical checkpoint. They are detected by your smartphone with the iOrienteering app as you pass through them. https://www.iorienteering.com (Link to app also on event page)

Whats is the terrain like?

The areas we use have great interconnecting footpaths making them perfect for all you trail runners, road runners and everyone in-between. We recommend light trail shoes or road shoes for the events, you know your club areas better than us.

Race registration / start time?

Start For individual club events this will be your usual club run start times. For inter-club champs this will be between 18:30 & 19:30. Registration This will be between, 30 minutes from your club runs start time to start time. Inter-club Champs this will be between 18:00 and 19:15 Only participants competing within the start times will receive scores.

I cant read a map, can I still join in?

Yes, you could team up with someone, there are always people looking for someone to run with on the day. To be fair the maps we use are road maps really easy to follow, and there is also a map on the app showing your location so very easy.

How do I follow the route?

There is no set route, you choose where to run, what direction, it is entirely your own choice. You have up to 2 hours, you might choose a longer route collecting more points but risk penalties for been late, or play safe and run a shorted route and finish a little early.
