The Saltmarsh events will return in 2025, starting with a Half Marathon following the Saltmarsh Coast trail pathway along the River Crouch from South Woodham Ferrers to Burnham-on-Crouch and the beautiful Riverside Park. The route is mostly off road and open to runners and walkers alike with a cut off time of 4.5hrs.

The Course 

Whilst we have some small adjustments to the route, it will be almost identical to 2019 Saltmarsh half route, but may measure slightly long (approx half a mile) due to a deviation in landowner access change since 2019. We will issue the .gpx once the final course is agreed. The course will be marked fully, with full aid stations at 5mi and 9mi. These will be stocked with a variety of snacks, both sweet and savoury, such as jelly babies, flapjacks, fruit, nuts and products from our event partners Tribe and Chia Charge. There will also be squash and flat coke for you, which we will be more than happy to fill your flasks and reusable cups with. 

PLEASE NOTE: This event will be cupless, as we make a move to reduce plastic waste. We're happy for you to use any receptacle you like, flask, cup or bladder, but if you would like to purchase a reusable cup, we have some available for purchase online during your registration. All cups to be collected on race-day. We will also have a stock of cups for purchase on race-day, should you need one.

With an opportunity to run on a picturesque coastal course with a sought after, unique, bespoke medal, finisher t-shirt & goody bag, this promises to be a fantastic event for runners/walkers of all abilities.  UKA Affliated Member & Race Permit issued by the Trail Running Association.

There will be no excuse for littering given the ability to dispose of any unwanted rubbish at each aid station.  We would like to continue to return to this venue regularly and constant littering might make this difficult. 

Parking / Shuttles

We will offer a shuttle service before the event from the finish of the half marathon at Riverside Park, Burnham on Crouch to the start at Marsh Farm, South Woodham Ferrers. Tickets for the shuttle can be booked/purchased at time of registration. We will have limited numbers available, so please book as soon as possible if you think you'll require the service. There will be no shuttle after the event.

There are car parks in the vicinity of the finish area in Riverside Park. Please park responsibly in the areas surrounding the finish if you are intending to park there. https://burnhamoncrouch.uk/visitors/parking-and-toilets/

There will be free parking at the start of the event at Marsh Farm Country Park, South Woodham Ferrers, Chelmsford, CM3 5WP. Cars are parked here at the owners risk. 

Bag Drop

We will run a bus from the race start to take any bags etc. to the finish. This will enable the half marathon entrants to have warm clothing and anything else they require at the end of their event.

By Car - Marsh Farm is a 30 min drive from the M25 exit A12 with many major roads including the A127, A130 and A1245 are leading towards South Woodham Ferrers. Type the postcode CM3 5WP into your Satnav.

By Bus - There is a bus stop on Inchbonnie Road which is a short 2 minute walk to Marsh Farm Road and the Farm entrance. Buses from all over the local area pass through (Basildon / Wickford / Chelmsford) so click the link below to plan your journey.

By Train - South Woodham Ferrers train station is on the Wickford / Southminster line. If you’re coming from London or Southend change at Wickford and South Woodham Ferrers is an 8 min ride. Marsh Farm is then a 20 min walk from the South Woodham Ferrers train station
