Next Race: 22/06/2025
Horsell Common, Surrey
extremely fun!!
Well organised, good communication and a varied and challenging route.
Well organised, friendly, intimate event.
Really enjoyed my first Martian 10k
On Wednesday I was at St Peter’s Hospital being to I had Achilles Tendonitis so wasn’t expecting to run today but after walking through the start for a few minutes the ache eased and I was able to progress into a slow jog/run and managed the 10k in 1 hour 1 minute. It’s my first Martian Race and hopefully next year I can run without injury. Thank you to all the marshals
Fantastic event!
Super fun race, well organised, fab route and venue.
Great event.
After the water station, a second bin a bit further along the route would be good. Second coffee van.
Really well organised event catering for a huge range of ages and abilities. Such a unique event and great event for Woking to offer. Everyone so enthusiastic and inclusive.
Well organised event with a pleasant, well marshalled route.
Brilliant, fun local event
Absolutely loved this race. Really well organised and beautiful route. One suggestion would be to have km markers along the route to help those of us without watches, or tell the marshals at what km point they are standing as none of them knew. Otherwise a fabulous event x
Enjoyable well run event. Marahalls all very friendly amd helpful
Very hot day and no water on the 5k route and limited water available at the finish
Lovely run in beautiful setting
A lovely run over varied terrain in a beautiful setting, with forest, sand pits, and grass meadow.
The Race Village was a good idea but unless you wanted to top up your sugar levels there was no actual food available
The pre-race emails were a muddle especially concerning the carparking. I know this was the first year that parking on site was allowed so hopes for an improvement next year
This year the race day was very warm with temperatures up in the 30's and water was freely available at the water stop, and the friendly on-course marshals were also offering to top up water bottles. However I was restricted to one half cup of water at the finish with volunteers fiercely defending the supplies, and the lady was rude to me when I tired to obtain a second cup
Bee-Leive Foundation was not advertised enough, and I have no idea what they are all about. The bee T-shirts were being worn but many were asking about the logo. The Bring One Can was also not advertised enough, there was a man sat by a van but unless you spoke to him again you would have no idea why he was there. Maybe in the before event emails, the logo and a summary of the charity may have helped. Then clear signs in the field on the day would have been good too
Really good local race
Good value for money, nice local race and really well organised. Staggered start worked well. Also cutting the grass really helped! Liked it was a metal medal this year rather than wooden.
Only comments would be: possibly could do with another water station when it was so hot.
Bit gutted as again I’ve not been caught in a single photo from the event. This was a comment I made last year too. I know the photographers are volunteers but seemed to be quite selective photographing. I pretty much always buy a finish photo for a scrapbook, but again none of this. I hoped it would be better this year but sadly haven’t seen anything yet.
Would give the red planet a run for its money.
Very well signposted and the marshals were great.
good vibe
Very friendly and inclusive event for all running abilities
Very grateful for the opportunity to enter the race after the closing date.
Well organised event that manages to be something for everyone while raising money for excellent causes
Maybe an extra water station next time, especially if it’s as hot as Hades again?
A friendly, supportive atmosphere with distances that suit most abilities
A great event. Friendly marshalls at regular intervals. Participants were also very kind and encouraging when I was struggling in the heat. Could have potentially done with more toilets/maybe another water station due to the extreme heat
Well organised race in a lovely setting.
Our first Martian/lions event as a family. More water required, especially when the temperatures are so high.
I would suggest an earlier start time before it gets too hot.
Well worth the effort
Please can we start at 8am as it was very hot running at 9:45. Great to have coffee and ice cream but queues were big, could we add more. Toilets would be good if dotted around the site. Overall great effort and very good, friendly day!!
Treat to run through the ountryside but ...
On the whole it's a lovely race and well put on and supported. Good mix of terrain and not too taxing.
I will raise two points though -
1) The 21k was actually 20k - not a big deal as I was using is as a slow trail run trial.
2) We spent the second half of the first lap being passed by 10k runners. There are a lot of narrow paths in the last 2 miles. I felt constantly under pressure and in one case was barged into tripping - very poor form. I was also badly cut up by a 10k runner taking a racing line for his finish. I started the 2nd lap in a not so cheerful place half ready to run through to my car! Simple solution - start the 10k 30 minutes after the half.
The second point is a shame as the race is a trat for the venue, organisation and cheerfulness of the marshells.
