Next Race: 22/06/2025
Horsell Common, Surrey
Great fun
First race I ever did and it was welcoming and fun :) thanks for all your hard work
Excellent event
Long queues for toilets especially pre race.
Accompanying non runner spouse suggested more coffee vans as queues were so long he didn't get a drink.
Great friendly event.
More food outlets - husband was queuing with the kids the whole time I was running the 5k so missed my finish.
Great race.
Awesome run, well organised
Print the year of run on the medal/lanyard
Thought it was a very nice race.
Everyone was kind and polite and willing to answer any questions. My only negative would be that it was mentioned that there were photographers along the course which I remember seeing as I ran past but unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be many photos and none of us running which is a shame. I know it’s something minor but would have been nice to see a picture of me running.
Good fun run over varied but not difficult surfaces
Would be good to have more water stations.
Fantastic family day out
This was our first time entering this race. We heard about it from my daughters school (Beaufort). It was really well organized and everything ran smooth and on time.
The martials were super helpful and smiley and the course was marked out very clearly. Running through the common and the forest was lots of fun.
The atmosphere was great and the kids had a great both during and after the race.
The only thing I would suggest to the organizers, is possibly have some more food vans or additional entertainment things for the kids to do while the adults were running their races.
This race is well worth doing - great scenery; superb organisation and marshalling; good value for money.
I was a little disappointed not to see any Martians/aliens on the route. As it was The Martian Races perhaps a couple of the marshalls could have dressed as Martians or maybe some of the signs along the route could have depicted the theme? Aside from that, it was a great experience and I would recommend this race.
Great race
Really well organised event and on time. I ran 21km and all competitors I came across were so friendly. The martials were super helpful and smiley. Only very minor point was the route registered less than 21km so had to do a little further trot at the end!
Friendly & fun - a great way to spend a morning
Excellent friendly race for all abilities
Great
My first trail half marathon and enjoyed it.
Like others my garmin watch came up short of the distance. But I ran with my brother who had Strava and his had the full 21.8 km mentioned before the race.
Nice looking medal but I thought it could have done with the distance on there some were on the ribbon at least as a reminder of my accomplishment.
Marshall’s were great supportive all the way a great race and would do it again.
Lovely local scenic race
This was our first time entering the race as I had not heard about it before. I was alerted because a fellow Dorking friend was running. Really glad that I entered, the course was well marked, it was an interesting terrain, I really like the boardwalks and the woods. Nothing to fault about the parking or the toilets (there can always be more!!). Gav is an excellent race organiser and answered questions immediately.
great race, great marshalling
it would be very easy to get lost or go off route luckily lots of friendly marshalls on the course to keep you right
Enjoyable run!
I loved running this yesterday and managed to get a PB (I think!). Only negatives are that my Garmin watch tracking was around 700m short at the end of the 21km race (I think this was the case for others as I saw a few people who seemed to be topping up their distances around the race village). I'm not sure if this was an issue with the route or that my Garmin was losing signal in the trees. I could tell that my watch was out at each of the distance checkpoints but the signage isn't super frequent which meant that knowing my pace / estimated finish time required lots of maths while I ran. As watches are likely to be unreliable in and out of the trees perhaps we could have some extra signage to keep runners updated with how far is left? Particularly in the last few kms when it really starts to burn.
My boyfriend also came to watch me run, and after seeing me off at the start line he asked a marshall where would be best to stand to see me go past. The spot they told him to stand at was right at the end which means that he waited 2 hours to see me again whereas he could have been directed 200m further up the path and seen me pass at the 10km mark. If you haven't been to the common before it can be hard to know where's best for specators to stand so some extra information on that would be fab.
Overall it was a lovely morning and the parking, registration and organisation was great. Everyone was so friendly and I think more of my family will be joining me to run next year!
The whole family enjoyed it!
Ive ran the Martian Race before but this was the best one ever!
