Question 1

How does the Aquathlon work

Swim
Participants will wait poolside in the order of release into the pool. One at a time, 60 seconds before your start time, you will be invited to move into warm up lane 1.
10 seconds before you start, or as the competitor before you begins their swim you will be asked to move into lane 2 where your swim leg will begin.

Each pool length is 25 metres to complete 400m you are required to swim as follows:
(Lane 1 Warm up lane)
1. Swim 4 lengths, out and back, in lane 2 - moving under the barrier into lane 3.
2. Swim 4 lengths, out and back, in lane 3 - moving under the barrier into lane 4.
3. Swim 4 lengths, out and back, in lane 4 - moving under the barrier into lane 5.
4. Swim 4 lengths, out and back, in lane 5 and exit the pool via the steps, turning into the transition area through the fire exit door and on the outside wall of the pool area. (there will be marshals there to guide you)

Transition
Running in the transition area is prohibited. Leave any swim kit in your transition area to collect after your run. Once you are ready, follow the directions of marshals from the transition area out on to the run route.​

Relay Transition 
​Relay transition happens at your located transition spot within the transition area. Swimmer hands over to Runner, Swimmer exits from transition with Runner (No running within transition area.) Marshals will be on hand to assist on the day. 

Run
The 5K* course consists of four laps, all on tarmac within the boundaries of the park, finishing in the centre of the park.

Transition

Question 3

Licensing

The event is expected to be licensed with the British Triathlon Federation (BTF), the competition rules of which can be found here. It is recommend participants familiarise themselves with the information therein, specifically sections­­ 4 (Swimming), 6 (Running) and 7 (Transition) for details on equipment and their expected conduct during the event. Entry for non-BTF members will be provided on event day.

Question 4

Aquathlon prep

Accepted Answer

Dress for your swim, ankle strap/timing chip. We will use a small marker pen on either your left or right shoulder to mark your race/bib number. Attach your race number to the front of the top in which you will be running using the safety pins provided at registration. Your number should always be visible during your run, and must not be covered/obstructed by other clothing/belts etc. Take your running kit to poolside for your pre-race briefing 15 minutes prior to your wave start time. (Wave times will be communicated in the week leading up to the event).

Bag Drop

Accepted Answer

Bag drop will not be available at these events. Participants should leave all belongings in their vehicle or in the transition area. Alternatively the changing room lockers within the sports centre can be used.

Toilets will be available in the event HQ.

Changing Rooms / Showers

Mixed changing rooms/showers will be available in the Sports Centre.

Wheelchairs

Accepted Answer

These events may be suitable for wheelchair users. Any participants wishing to compete with specialised equipment are asked to contact us before entering to ensure we can accommodate any additional requirements.

Spectators

Spectators are permitted at the event in the Sports Centre viewing area and anywhere on the 5K route. (why not volunteer at the same time!?)

Earphones/Headphones

Accepted Answer

BTF rules prohibit the use of earphones or headphones throughout the event.

Question 11

Baggage Drop

Accepted Answer

It is possible to leave a small bag at the HQ for the event, this must be no bigger than a shoe box sized bag, ask registration team on the day.

07:55 you must attend the event briefing, this is poolside and be ready to swim.
