Old Fowler Barracks, Ludgershall road, Ludgershall, SP11 9RR.
Bloody hard but I loved it
Really good run but the weather tried its best to destroy us but it just wasn't up to the job. Nice and muddy in places just like a trail should be in my opinion. Thank you everybody involved for you time and effort. Quite a few of us went wrong in one place and my suggestion to avoid this is to have some ply behind the direction arrows to stiffen them. Fantastic day and a massive thank you to you all.
Weather was so bad but we didn’t give up
The run actually finished at 13.8 miles rather than 13.1 and after the weather making the run so difficult the extra .7km was an absolute killer
Proper trail half marathon
Well done for keeping the event going despite the conditions!
The weather will make or break this event
I would recommend this event for new runners as well as seasoned folks who want a challenge. The only caveat to this is the weather on the day! 2024's event was during Storm Darragh. The wind and rain out on the training area wasn't to be laughed at! It was brutal at times! I fully appreciate running a winter marathon is always going to be that bit harder due to the potential of any bad weather, so if you are new to the running community then this needs to be seriously considered before making any booking. My wife got her first ever DNF due to the conditions out there. I found that due to the really poor weather the overall atmosphere was terrible. People were all in their own worlds of pain, so there wasn't much chat or encouragement between runners unfortunately. A HUGE thanks needs to be given to all the marshals out on the course because those poor souls had to stand out in that horrendous weather for hours. They were all great though and full of smiles. The aid stations didn't have much in them, but again this would have been made harder to have things like sandwiches on offer due to the wind and rain. I'm glad I got it finished and will possibly be back with the wife so she can avenge her DNF.
The Event was well managed and well organised with minimal confusion or fuss
Route got a little confusing, but this was only due to the weather blowing the flags and signs down
Not a cakewalk
I ran the 2024 Winter Half in Storm Darragh and, let's be honest, everyone there should have stayed in bed. But hundreds of us showed up, all expertly marshalled by the dedicated crew. A couple of mishaps with missing flags, we'll put that to the wind. Great vibes, hats off to the guy running with a fridge strapped to his back. Oh, and the bacon butty van at the finish line - special. I definitely recommend it for anyone considering a winter trot.
It was f*cking awful. I loved it.
Diabolical weather, ankle deep mud super slippery chalk. Just what we were promised. Excellent event.
Tough one for a begginer but doable...
I enjoyed this even though it was run in pouring rain and 35 mph winds! The trail was tough, legging burn hills, the off road was really muddy. Well organised and a bit further than a half marathon. For reference I have run half marathons before but plod around in 2.20 ish at best - this one took me 2.50.....fun? Yes, brutal? definatly! Would I do it again probablyand with better weather it probably would have been a lot more pleasant!
Thank you for taking the difficult decision not to cancel. Hope everyone made it safe
Good size, no queue for anything, hassle-free. Great to have a volunteer at every junction!
Windy
Brutal. Challenging. Awesome.
It was a super nice course and was fun to run. Rain and
A brilliant run.
Very well run and marked out. Great atmosphere. Just brilliant.
Challenging, but rewarding and great fun
Great atmosphere and friendly runners. A really fun event, well-worth giving a try!
Very Cold and very wet. Fun.
Extreme weather made this for a great run. Let down by poorly positioned point markers causing nearly everyone to get lost at least once! Would return though as was very relaxed and accessible.
Awesome
Brutal event, fair play to hold it given the conditions but it is a winter event!
Can’t thank the volunteers enough for being out there would recommend
Tough conditions
Not for the feint hearted
Great event, really well organised, couldn’t recommend it more!
The route marking is excellent and all marshals were very helpful and friendly.
Tough due to weather conditions this year (storm Darragh) but great support from the marshals and organisers
Wild Weather, great trail
Most people would stay in bed went there is a storm with a name blowing gale force winds! But not anyone that enters Andover trail events! Salisbury plain marathon did not disappoint, a great route and absolutely amazing Marshalls standing out in terrible weather to look after us! Awesome route marking and GPX to follow means it gives great direction and reassurance you are going the right way! Thanks again for a great run
