The Ridgeway Challenge 86 Miles is a fully supported through-the-night running event that starts at Steps Hill (Ivinghoe Beacon) near Tring and ends at Avebury Stone Circle. The route is 86 miles along The Ridgeway National Trail, a 5000 year old trackway through the Chiltern Hills and North Wessex Downs (along Grim’s Ditch for several miles), Barbury Castle and Liddington Castle (hill forts) en route, way marked throughout with 1929m (6328 feet) ascent 1991m (6532 feet) descent. The event hosts the British Trail Running Championships Ultra Distance 2022.
The event is organised by and permitted by the Trail Running Association.

From Ivinghoe follow the B489 past Town Farm Campsite and look for the next right turn signposted Ringshall, Ashridge and Ivinghoe Beacon. The carpark is on the left one mile up the hill. Park in the main carpark and walk up hill about 50 metres and you will see the start on the right hand side. Be careful crossing the road.
From Dunstable follow the B489 to wards Tring. Approx. one mile past the Traveller's Rest pub and take the left hand turn signposted Ringshall, Ashridge and Ivinghoe Beacon. The carpark is on the left one mile up the hill.
