Event Overview:
The Gunpowder Run is a superb race offering from the Battle Bonfire Boyes. It's called the Gunpowder run because Battle is famous for gunpowder making, known for producing the “finest Gunpowder in Europe”. You will be running across the field that played a major part in this historic industry, including through Powdermill Woods and adjacent to Powdermill Lane.

Course Details:
The course is approximately 8km (5 miles) and runners can enjoy the beautiful East Sussex landscape as they complete this challenging two lap course. This race will suit all abilities.It starts in front of the historic Battle Abbey and takes you on a cross country, two lap route around the Abbey grounds and Gunpowder Fields.
The route finishes back in front of the Battle Abbey. The course is mainly off-road but there are a couple of hardstanding tracks so you won’t be in the mud/grass all the time (just 95% of it!)

Race HQ: The Abbey Green, High Street, Battle, East Sussex, TN33 0AD
Race Start/Finish: The start is located 100m from the race HQ in the high street with the finish located under the shadow of Battle Abbey.
By Car:
There are pay and display car parks located throughout Battle. Parking is not permitted on the High Street as this forms part of the route. Parking is available on a first come first served basis so we recommend car sharing and arriving in plenty of time.
By Train:
The closest railway station is Battle which is approximately 1 mile from the race HQ.
