We chose this trail and running weekend for people who like a bit of history to chew over. Yes we’ll be including this as part of the weekend too. And we’ve added our popular morning yoga for runners session.
This is an ideal weekend for anyone who wants to get to know Brecon Beacon National Park and the Black Mountains a bit better, someone who is training for a longer effort, perhaps an off road marathon, a mountain marathon, multi day event or an ultra and wants to get some back-to-back runs in. Pace is not important. All abilities are welcome, as long as you are capable of running 10 miles off road.
The Dinas Castle bunkhouse is situated in a lovely valley that is over 1000ft above sea level, right in the rural heart of the Black Mountains, which make up the Eastern part of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Spectacular views of the surrounding hills that can be seen from almost every window. Located below the ruins of Castell Dinas, the highest ruin castle in England and Wales. Conveniently located for some of the areas finest trails, Wirth access to the Wye valley, the Sugar Loaf and Crickhowell, as well as Hay on Wye.
Price: £310 to stay in the bunkhouse, or we can fix you up in the adjoining B&B upon request, if there’s room.Camping is also available in the adjoining field. Evening meals will be at the Dinas Castle Inn or in Talgarth.
This camp is suitable for experienced trail runners and fell runners or those wanting to dip their toe in to these waters. The nature of the climbs and descents, makes for a worthwhile challenge, while our experienced guides (who are former elite level fell and trail runners themselves), will ensure that friskier runners can also feel tested and will also come away satisfied. You should however be able to run a minimum of 10k off road on different terrain. Speed is not an issue, so please don’t be put off by that!
