Amazing first half marathon

My friends came to Andover as one of us worked there. Having never done a half marathon before, I was naturally apprehensive. However, I arrived there, and there was this buzz around the town centre the whole morning. Instructions were given, and they were clear, and I knew exactly where to go at all moments. We all then lined up at the start line and BANG we were off. The route was quite difficult and very hilly (hence my maybe suitable for beginners remark) however, the scenic views throughout the course were amazing, and once you got past the 8-8:30am morning cold the weather was near perfect running conditions. Everyone there was so friendly and had a good chat with multiple people on my way. This run just reaffirmed my love for running which I had somewhat lost just after COVID and will definitely be doing more half and full marathons to come.

Beautiful run on a perfect day!

Would be good to remind runners to keep left or right in traffic, generally runners were left, right and centre of the road!

Great scenery despite the hills

Enjoyed the course, despite there were no distance markers and the confusing finish line (many of us got lost after the wooden bridge as there were no signs especially around the large retail car park area) Public had to help us find our way to the finish line. At the start also there were no one at the registration tent to collect our bibs - yes we got there 10 mins before the race due to accident on M3 but it created a bit of a panic thinking we were too late. All sorted and the course was surprisingly really beautiful. Good value for money and the marshals were lovely too. Thank you.

Undulating.

Nice race, not too big an event. A few hills which have variety and amazing views. Easy terrain.

Another great event

I loved the event as it was local and supported a charity. The marshals gave great support. The roads were super quiet even though not closed. Definitely one to do

Great event and spectacular scenery

The marshals and scenery were absolutely first class. From rolling countryside lanes to a bit of off road fun there was never a point without something to look at! I would suggest this was a more hilly than I had imagined so not necessarily for beginners. There were a couple of pinch points in the first Km but otherwise you were free to pace yourself to your heart (and legs) content.

it would be nice to get times / position... is that possible..? Also, not sure how, but managed to go wrong at the end (and ended up doing 13.65 miles)!

Loved it!

It’s hilly and difficult so don’t underestimate it but what a great route with lovely scenery and really supportive marshals. An enjoyable, well organised event.

Great event.

Very enjoyable, some good hills, good support all round, great marshalls.
Would be nice to have water available at the finish, but car park and my water was only 200 yards away.

My first half marathon and to say the least it was amazing, very hilly I’d recommend beginners should maybe try a less elevated one first but I loved every second of it scenery was amazing plenty of people were out cheering you on.

Amazing scenary, killer hills!

This was my first half marathon. I found the course extremely beautiful and the scenery was wonderful. Volunteers were very helpful. One point of feedback would be it would be nice if there were some snacks at the finish line to help with recovery. I do apologize if that's a cultural faux pas -- that type of thing is pretty common in races back home in the USA!

Well organised race

Perhaps not the best choice of first half marathon as it was hillier than expected. Marshall’s very encouraging and a good medal to finish. Longer than the half but had a lovely time!

Brilliantly challenging, fantastic organisation!

Everything about this was well organised, and as always a wonderful supportive community who come out to cheer us all on!

One thing I would ask for you to consider for future events - would you go cupless for the water stations? The second water station had a bin put out but the first didn't and lots of cups all over the place. So many events are going cupless now so I think people would be able to go prepared.

Thank you for a super event (as always) and I look forward to what 2025 has in store!
