Brilliant day
Add hills to your training!
Beautiful but difficult route.
Great run, hard, hilly more off the cliffs than I'd expected (less cliff views)
Struggled with only 1 water stop. initial notes sent out said 'first' water stop is (named location)...... suggesting there were more. I was very hot and thirsty and wished I'd had my own pack.
I would be more clear with this in joining notes or offer more water/refreshment stations.
Has a bit of everything - flat coastal running, then long haul to the top rewarded by fine views, and intense up and down finish to the final castle where the cheers from the castle precincts make it all worthwhile!
It would have been useful to have a rubbish bin for people to discard water bottles 100m or so from the table. It wasn't clear that if you moved away from the table with your drink you would be forced to carry the bottles all the way to the end. An extra water stop would have been good. Top event though!
Lovely run
A challenging but beautiful course . Great marshals and route signs except at one point . I think between miles 7-10 there was a field with dips but after climbing a short steep hill back onto tarmac and a choice of left or right there was not a marshal or arrow . It was just luck our group chose to turn right .
Lovely scenery and I can see why it is named a challenge!
Great medal and T-shirt. Could've done with something other than sweets at the finish - banana or biscuit/cereal bar perhaps.
great run on a challenging course really enjoyed it
side note one section no signs when we came up a small slope on the scrub lands and a small group of 6 runners had to guess which way to go so could have done with anther sign
Lots of hills and oh those steps!!
tough enjoyable course
Another water station maybe?
Beautiful from beginning to end!
Just needs better signage in the are leading up to the lighthouse. Just one arrow to say turn right at the top of the hil would have done it
Well organised, nice run with great medal
Really enjoyed this run, the route takes in some lovely scenery and great monuments.
Amazing
Rather than big 500ml water bottles the smaller ones would be better as there was a lot of wasted water along the route and also easier to carry around.
Fantastic event
Why on earth was there a dusty chalk bank in the route (St. Margarets)? Leading up to the chalk bank was a half hashed route through overgrowth, littered with tripping obstacles and cow dung. Maybe stick to the gravel tracks next year. Other than that, a Great Event
Wonderful day from start to finish
Great route. Mixed terrain. Lovely landmarks. Great medal and tshirt
And an epic finish line!
Beautiful scenery but quite a tough course.
The length and gradient of the uphill section between miles 6.5 and 9.5 miles I found very challenging (quite a lot of participants were resorting to run-walk mode - maybe particularly so for beginners). I'm not complaining about this but it would be helpful in future years for this event, for a vertical section of the course (showing inclines and declines) to be presented on the website in addition to the route plan. Would help the runners to be better prepared for the unexpected.
Absolutely amazing
Bit of a challenge for a first half marathon. 100% worth it, speaking from first hand experience
Fabulous, but challenging!!
Challenging but awesome at the same time
Fantastic, beautiful route. This has to be my favourite race from sporting events, I was really looking forward to this race, especially as I missed it last year and I have to say it was well worth the wait! Will definitely be doing this one next year.
Hilly & challenging but great fun, well organised & a fab T-shirt & medal at the end, oh & Haribo at the drinks station……winner
