NB: Important information: In order to accommodate the race timing technology we are using, we are going to start the 10km and 15km runs together at 10.40am. The runners will be heading off in the same direction to complete an initial 5km lap of the forest. The 5km fun run will start at 9.45am as publicised. We can not guranetee a medal to runners who enter on the day but they will be able to pick one up at Oakfields PT gym in Clifton.

FAQs

When do I have to register by?

You will need to register up to 15 minutes before the start of your event. (before 9.30am for the 5km fun run and by 10.15am for the 10km and 15km events). If you can sign in under your event name/number, you will then be issued with your number.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

You can park in Coronation Avenue in the Forestry Commission car park next to the start/finish area, entry from the A369. If this is full however, please use either Leigh Court (about a mile walk from the start, along forest path) , North Road (fifteen minute walk to start) or the Valley Road car park (fifteen minute walk to start), just off the A369.

The organisers would like to encourage participants to liftshare. There is not at present a lot of provision for cyclists, which is a situation which we would like to reverse next year.

Can I get a refund or transfer to another category?

I’m afraid refunds are not available at this stage. If you wish to transfer to another event, you may be able to do so only if space permits. You can not be refunded the partial difference if you choose a shorter alternative and you must pay the difference if you choose to transfer to a longer event.

Prizes

We will have over £1,000 worth of prizes, thanks to our sponsor Ellis Brigham and The Lido in Clifton, who have donated superb prizes: a year’s membership to Clifton Lido, in the men’s and women’s categories.

T-shirts, goody bags, medals

All entrants who have entered online for the Paradise and Back and Almost Paradise events will receive a t-shirt and a medal. Runners in the 5km fun run will receive a goody bag curteousy of Ellis Brigham.

Will the race be timed?

The race will be timed by Racesplitter and the results will be posted at www.wildrunning.co.uk, shortly after the event.

What should I wear?

Participants are responsible for their own choice of clothing but we recommend you wear a decent pair of trail shoes in the event of rain. Generally however, road shoes should be sufficient for all three routes, which features mixed terrain. forest paths, a gravel tow path section and a little tarmac. Ellis Brigham Mountain Sports are offering 15 % discount for full priced running gear purchased at their Bristol store for P&B entrants before close of play on Friday.

Drinks station

There will be one drinks station for the 15km event at the end of the tow path near Pill and some high energy sweets in Paradise Bottom.

Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?

cerirees@wildrunning.co.uk

Can I bring my dog?

Afraid not, for the safety of other runners.

Mile markers

These will be displayed every other mile.

Toilets

There will be two portaloos next to the start/finish area, so please do empty your bowels before coming! The next nearest toilets are in Leigh Court, about a mile away.

Should I bring a change of gear?

Absolutely yes. There aren’t any changing facilities in Leigh Woods, so best come prepared.

How can I make a donation to the Grand Appeal?

At www.justgiving.com/paradiseandback

Will I be tempted to stop?

Of course you will. That’s the nature of Paradise. Keep on moving….

Refreshments

Tea, coffee, cake and biscuits will be available at the start/finish area.

What happens if the weather is bad on the day?

The organisers reserve the right to shorten or cancel the event if the weather is particulary bad. The National Trust has asked us to reroute the event if there is very bad continuous rain, which could cause damage to NT paths.

Finally, the National Trust have asked us to attach this link to their participant survey, if you do have time to fill it out. It shouldn’t take more than a couple of minutes.

On behalf of Wild Running, Oakfields PT, Ellis Brigham Mountain Sports our spnsors and the Grand Appeal, we would like to wish the best of luck to all participants and to offer our heartfelt thanks to you for getting involved.
