How to add a Video to your Event

Overview

If you have video content for your races, why not add it onto your eventrac page to help potential entrants get a feel for what taking part in your event is like and also give current entrants a reminder of what to look forward to. We have made it straightforward to add your videos from popular platforms such as YouTube and Vimeo. These videos will appear on your event listing page under the 'Video' tab and will play inside a window on the page, making the transition from wathcing to entering seamless.

Step 1: Locating the Video tab

On your event page you will see a 'Video' tab, click here to see if you have any live videos, if you don't or you want to update them, let's get started!

Step 2: Login to your Admin Panel

Bring up your organiser dashboard and click on the race you wish to add the video to, in this case we are selecting 'Weybridge 10k'

Step 3: Navigate to the Video page

Just click on 'Video'

Step 4: Add a New Video

Just click 'Add New Video'

Step 5: Be aware of the information you need to fill in

All of these fields labeled below will need to be actioned.

  1. You will need to name your video, this title displays above the video on the listing page
  2. This is the video URL you will need to add in, please read ahead to find out which URL you need to be using
  3. Please choose whether your video is hosted on YouTube or Vimeo
  4. The rights to use the video you have chosen is compulsary

Step 6: Locating the Video URL on YouTube

(Skip to step 11 if you are using Vimeo)

Go to the YouTube video you wish to use and click the 'Share' button.

Step 7: Make sure you use the correct URL

Ignore this URL that shows and click 'Embed'

Step 8: Copy & Paste the URL

  1. You will want to take everything that begins with https:// up until the end of the quotation marks, nothing else
  2. Choose from these options which you want to apply to your video when it is shown on the eventrac listing page

Step 9: Fill in the information on eventrac

Now you can add your title (1) URL (2) and confirm you can display this video as part of your event (3)

Step 10: Check the Video is showing correctly

Step 11: Locating the Video URL on Vimeo

Just like YouTube, you will need to click on the 'Share' button.

Step 12: Copy & Paste the URL

Make sure you grab the following URL, this is located towards the bottom of the code and starts with https:// and includes the vimeo.com link and an ID number, in this case '1349369'
