Hi
Great Owl Running was born out of the wish to put on some trail fun races based on some of our personal favourite trails, all discovered whilst living in and exploring Leeds and Yorkshire, UK.
Over the last few years I (race director, Adam) have entered a variety of races, from the London Marathon and the Leeds Abbey Dash to fell races and ultra trail and mountain races in the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and as far afield as Austria and Spain.
You’d think with so many races the market would be saturated? Not at all! Many people find that after joining a running club or generally getting obsessed with a new sport, a wealth of options are presented to them. It then becomes possible to fine tune what it is you want from a race. And Great Owl Running is just that.
We want to keep things relatively simple, and reasonably priced. So if you like a fun, challenging and a good looking course look no further. Forget the medal, lets all have a chinwag about our race experience over a cup of hot soup and crusty roll and maybe even pint at the end.
The main goal of Great Owl running is to start a community of kind like minded souls from the front to the back (and the mid-pack) without breaking the bank. We like to keep it personal. We also like to think of ourselves as DIY event organisers and want to work with like minded partners, groups, communities and sponsors, If that’s you get in touch!
Our current events include The Holly Hustle and the Kirkstall Calverley Cutter. They are inclusive trail races for anyone with basic to intermediate trail running experience. Those who maybe want to try trail running for the first time running alongside seasoned veterans who know the course like the back of their hand and want a fast paced trail race, there’s plenty of room for all.
Now go enter our races, and enjoy!
